Photography Exhibition in the Gonžarjeva peč Via Ferrata
30.06.2015
It is true that THE BEST THINGS HAPPEN SPONTANEOUSLY, unexpectedly.
From a playful debate between photographers and climbers, a wonderful idea has recently sprouted, and since we don't remain mere dreamers, the result is already here!
Both SEE AND APPRECIATE THE BEAUTIES OF SLOVENIAN MOUNTAINS, so the idea arose to set up a very special photography exhibition this time - in one of the most difficult yet accessible Slovenian via ferratas, Gonžarjeva peč near Vinska Gora. As far as we know, this is a project that hasn't been done anywhere around yet, and according to current information, we are even the first in the world. The popularity of the location is very high among enthusiasts of this kind of climbing pleasure, and visitors often have to wait patiently to take their turn for climbing enjoyment. From the regional road connecting the Savinja Valley and Carinthia, the view of the wall is very prominent.
Using a special canvas printing process, IN JULY AND AUGUST 2015 we will exhibit 11 larger-format photographs selected in an internal competition on the theme of the beauties of Slovenian mountains, preservation of flora and fauna, nature-friendly and respectful human activities in the mountains, directly in the wall along the climbing path.
INVITED TO THE EXHIBITION OPENING,
which will take place on Thursday, 2.7.2015 at 17:00 directly at the foot of the teaching polygon of the Alpine Association of Slovenia – the secured climbing path Gonžarjeva peč above Vinska Gora.
The opening with a short cultural program will be carried out in collaboration with the Vinska Gora Local Community.
For the actual viewing of the exhibition, please note the following:
Gonžarjeva peč is a sports, very difficult secured path with steep and demanding sections, in places very exposed and without artificial holds. A helmet, climbing harness, self-belay device, and of course appropriate experience are mandatory for movement in the wall. The photographs will be exhibited along the arranged climbing path on the cliffs of a 70-meter high wall. We must point out that viewing the exhibition is at your own risk, only for appropriately climbing-trained and experienced persons, i.e., visitors who, in accordance with the instructions for movement in the wall, are familiar with safety rules, the climbers' ethical code, and dangers in the wall, or visitors under the guidance of an experienced guide.
The SVIT Photographers' Association from Celje is one of the largest, most successful, and most versatile active photography associations in the Slovenian area; for the realization of this project, we must especially thank alpinist Iztok Čurči for the idea and project leadership, the Vinska Gora Local Community and the Vinska Gora Mountaineering Association for excellent collaboration and warm reception, as well as the sponsors.
More about the association's activities and, of course, plenty of interesting photographic creations can be found on the website http://www.df-svit.si/
WE LOOK FORWARD TO OUR UPCOMING MEETING!
