In this month's theme, we ventured along the Zasavska planinska pot (ZPP), which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and is the second oldest long-distance circular trail in Slovenia after the Slovenska planinska pot. How it originated, why there was opposition in the beginning, where it runs, how long it is..., in the heart of Z nami na pot you will also find descriptions of four stages along the ZPP, namely from Podsreda Castle to Koča na Bohorju (2nd stage), from Koča na Bohorju to Tončkov dom na Lisci (3rd stage), from Dom na Šmohorju to Planinski dom na Mrzlici (6th stage), and continuing to Planinski dom na Čemšeniški planini (7th stage).
In the April issue, you can read as many as three interviews. In the first, we spoke with Jože Prah, the driving force behind the Inter-Association Committee of Zasavje mountaineering societies, under which the Zasavska planinska pot falls.
The second interview is with Miho Žumer, an alpinist and mountain rescuer, who shared with us in a moving account all the difficult and incredible moments of his accident, when in June 2024 he was descending from the Triglav Glacier and the snowfield gave way under his feet, with the ice axe handle plunging deep into his chest and abdomen. This was also one of the most demanding rescue operations by GRS in recent years.
The third conversation is with Barbara Robič, who together with her husband built the story of Brunarice pri Ingotu above the Spodnji Martuljški slap and says that when she sees an opportunity, it is hard to stop her.
With the Youth Commission of PZS, we are celebrating 70 years of operation, we ventured across the highest wall of the Eastern Alps, we write about the cannon thunder from the summit of Triglav and publish an excerpt from Samo Rugelj's new book Vandranje. We attended the awarding of the Dr. Angela Piskernik plaques, the highest awards of the PZS Commission for the Protection of Mountain Nature, which was also received by Planinski vestnik. In Bohinj, we were at the premiere ski touring festival, we remind you of the etiquette for mountaineers and nature lovers, we provide useful tips for maintaining mountaineering equipment - from clothing and boots with gaiters to backpacks, we report from the national championship in competitive ice climbing and we roam around Gibraltar.
The regular rubrics follow: here is Planinčkov kotiček (Kristina Menih writes about the little butterfly Mavr, who found his peace), education (about ski tours in the maPZS web application), as well as the column, weather (everything we need to know about air temperature), literature, mountaineering organization in memoriam.
I invite you to subscribe to the magazine. Because the oldest Slovenian magazine still in publication will hardly survive without a loyal reader base >>> online subscription shop.
We wish you pleasant reading of Planinski vestnik and
a safe and happy step on all your paths!
