In the June issue of Planinski vestnik, this month's theme covers death, death in the mountains and coping with it, the loss of companions, friends, loved ones..., and returning and persevering back into life - from pain to respectful remembrance. Many share their reflections with us, those willing to share their experiences, pain, perception of death, and insights about it. And ultimately, after encountering death, they conclude that the mountains are indeed life, and life is, despite everything, "positive vibesrajn".
We spoke with Peter Novotny, a Czech alpinist with a variety of alpinistic and ski-touring achievements behind him - including in Slovenia.
The other conversation is with club worker Jožica Kolar from PD Makole, a PZS guide indispensable on the Makole hike, and former club president.
We roam the Carnic Prealps in the Tramontina valley, then neighboring Montaža on the overlooked Turn above Cijanerico, the nearby Kamniški vrh, and the Vipava valley, which often has a "draught". We write about alpine glaciers, their monitoring and management, interesting research in the Lake in Ledvička, and Baška grapa, which has become a new member of the Mountain Villages. We report from the PZS assembly and the Slovenian mountaineering orienteering competition 2025. Dušan once again enthuses us with a newly explained mystery about whether Zlatorog was an ibex or a chamois (before reading the conclusion, answer for yourself and then read the solution

).
In the "With us on the trail" section, we invite you to the Karst - specifically to Stari Tabor (603 m), Kokoš (674 m), Veliko Gradišče (745 m), and to cool off in the Reka river gorge.
Regular columns follow: comic strip (about Šlajmerjev dom in Vratih), education (about moving on secured climbing paths), readers' letters, literature, and mountaineering organization.
We wish you enjoyable reading of Planinski vestnik and
a safe and happy step on all your paths!
