The June theme of the month is With Children in the Mountains. Also about what this means, how to organize and prepare joint trips with a child from the cradle onwards, how the dynamics of a mountaineering family change with the birth of a child and how valuable it is to spend time together in the hills, as it also involves experiencing nature together. We also publish a practical example of a trip with children.
The first interview in the context of the theme of the month is with Urška Petek, author of the new handbook titled Small Steps, Big Peaks - a handbook for parents and children from the cradle to adolescence; at the same time also a mother and a guide of the Alpine Association of Slovenia, who mainly leads children into the mountains and shares her personal, mountaineering, guiding and publishing journey with readers.
The second interview is with Jože Melanšek, founding member of the Youth Commission of the Alpine Association of Slovenia, who recalls the beginnings of organizing work with youth and working with young people. The Youth Commission of the Alpine Association of Slovenia is celebrating seventy years of operation this year.
The third interview is with Massimo Cappucci, mountaineer, climber, traveler and excellent photographer, whose article and photographs can also be found in Planinski vestnik.
We write about the rugged ridge above the Draga valley, about the path around Crode del Toni - a picturesque high-mountain path in the Sexten Dolomites, about the Ajdovska deklica, we explore the Breginjski kot, celebrate 100 years of the Juliana garden, the oldest alpine botanical garden in Slovenia, and 130 years of the Soča branch of the Slovenian Mountaineering Society, and we also rejoice with young mountaineers in Bohinj on their 50th anniversary of operation.
In the section With Us on the Trail, we invite you to the mountains in Tuscany, namely to Monte Cusno, Cinque Terre, Monte Corchia and Monte Cimone.
