In the November issue of Planinski vestnik, this month's feature article is about the short but rich life path of alpinist Bogumil Brinšek. Brinšek believed that mountains are a space for creative spirit, not just physical effort. With his masterful photographs, he showed that the beauty of mountains can be captured with an artistic, not just a documentary, sensibility. Together with the Drenovci, he laid the foundations and opened the path for generations that began writing the story of Slovenian alpinism. Slovenian mountaineering at his time did not fully understand him. The Drenovci's idea of a Slovenian climber without a guide and a mountaineer who also heads to the mountains in winter seemed premature and dangerous. His path was short and ended tragically on the Serbian battlefield in the first weeks of World War I. The irony of fate ensured that he fell in the uniform of an Austrian officer for the monarchy whose policy, as a convinced Slavophile, he did not agree with.
We publish an article on weather and snow conditions - the opinion of meteorologist Andrej Velkavrh regarding one of the worst and earliest avalanche accidents in our country, which in October buried three Croatian mountaineers on the slope below Tosc. We also publish an article on weather in the mountains in the Knowledge section.
We ski on vast volcanoes in Chile, admire views on trekking in Kyrgyzstan - the mountainous heart of Central Asia (the cover photo of this issue is also from this trek, author Massimo Cappuccio). We reflect on sustainable development and Slovenian mountain nature - on vulnerable mountains and driving. We wander through Wales, along the Canary paths of two islands La Gomera and La Palma, and in the Kaghan Valley in the Himalayas. We also attended the Živeti gore festival and the alpinism festival.
We write about no less than three venerable anniversaries: the 130th anniversary of PD Radovljica, the 50th anniversary of Bivak po Špikom, and the 50th anniversary of the Vertikala mountaineering connecting trail, which runs through areas with Slovenian population in Italy.
In the Z nami na pot section, we invite you to the Visočica mountain range in Herzegovina - with a picture, words, and a trail map, Visočica (1736 m), Drstva (1808 m), Vito (1960 m), and Džamija (1967 m) invite you.
The regular sections follow: Planinčkov kotiček (this time about Eva and the mountaineering cat Kapučin), comic strip (about a mountain rescuer and Aljažev stolp), alpinism, literature, and mountaineering organization.
