The theme of the October issue of Planinski vestnik is The Splendour and Misery of Contemporary Mountaineering, where we write about crowds in the mountains, ascents of eight-thousanders as a means of profit and fame, and in the theme of the month we also talked with Anja Hajnšek, head of the team in a tourist agency responsible for hiking, and with mountain guide Andraž Šparovec.
The second interview is with alpinist Mira Zorič, who in her time climbed in a predominantly male environment, but completed an enviable number of alpine ascents. She was also a participant in the 1st Yugoslav women’s Himalayan expedition in 1986 to South Annapurna, 7219 m.
We went on a trek around Manaslu, with the Youth Commission of PZS we celebrated its 70 years at the first Gojzarfest in Tivoli, we climbed Škrlatica and experienced many things along the way. We are looking forward to the translation of the Carnic Alps guide into Italian and German.
In the section With us on the trail we invite you to Jezersko, the first mountaineering village in Slovenia, with an extensive description of the area, history and points of interest, and we also invite you to Virnikov Grintovec (1654 m), Grintovec via Mlinarsko sedlo (2558 m), Dolgi hrbet (2473 m), Skuta (2532 m) and Velika Baba (2127 m).
In the Health section we write about improvised immobilisation techniques, which is especially useful to know on our mountain tours – you will find short notes with clear pictorial illustrations.
In the Knowledge section we reviewed the renewed Alpiročnik, which brings many improvements and novelties. Also very useful is the article on various satellite communicators and the 112 system – what are the advantages and disadvantages of different communicators, what do they contain, what can we do with them, how long does the battery last ...
The regular sections also follow: Planinčkov kotiček for the youngest, Column, Nature Conservation, Weather (and what are the (un)truths about it), In memory (on the 30th anniversary of the death of alpinist Vanja Furlan), Literature and Mountaineering Organisation.
We invite you to subscribe to the magazine. Because the oldest Slovenian magazine that is still being published has been preserved only with a loyal base of readers. Subscription form >>>
We wish you pleasant reading of Planinski vestnik and
