In September, the start of the reconstruction of the regional road and the arrangement of parking lots at the top of the Vršič pass is planned.
During the construction works, from September 2 to December 24, 2024, or as long as weather conditions permit, partial closures are planned on sections of state roads R1-206/1043 Ruska cesta (Erika–Vršič), from km 8.575 to km 8.948 and R1-206/1028 Vršič–Trenta, from km 0.000 to km 0.330.
During the partial closures, traffic past the work area will proceed alternately one-way with traffic signal control.
Between September 16 and December 24, occasional full closures are also planned, but only on weekdays, specifically between 7:30 and 17:00. The times for full closures may change depending on weather conditions.
During full closure, the detour for all vehicles will be on the route Kranjska Gora–Rateče–Italy–Predel–Bovec.
The contractor or concessionaire will inform the public about the days of full closure via media and information boards. Exact dates of full closures will also be published on the website of the Traffic Information Center for State Roads.
Access to Erjavčeva koča from the Kranjska Gora direction will be possible throughout the construction works. From the Trenta direction, access to Tičarjev dom will be permitted if conditions at the construction site allow.
Since there are large areas in the construction zone used for unregulated parking, these will be appropriately closed (partially or fully) during construction.
Parking will be permitted in all cases on areas lower along the road on both sides of the pass.
Construction works will continue next year (the date will be known later depending on weather conditions at the pass).
