16.04.2016
PZS Assembly 2016 in Koroška with emphasis on guidelines for the future operation of the mountaineering organization

Today, 16 April 2016, Črna na Koroškem hosted the regular annual Assembly of the Alpine Association of Slovenia (PZS), one of the most massive and content-richest non-governmental organisations in Slovenia. Delegates from mountaineering clubs unanimously supported the amended and supplemented Statute of PZS and adopted the PZS Programme Guidelines, the basic document of the mountaineering organisation that determines or indicates the directions of its operation and development.

The Slovenian mountaineering organisation (Alpine Association of Slovenia and affiliated clubs) has developed from 1893 to the present day on the basis of volunteering into one of the most massive and content-richest non-governmental organisations in Slovenia and has succeeded in preserving its basic mission to this day – organising various activities in the mountain world, caring for mountaineering infrastructure (mountaineering trails and mountain huts), protecting mountain nature, caring for safety in the mountains and caring for mountaineering culture. The Alpine Association of Slovenia admitted four new clubs into its membership in 2015: Športnoplezalno društvo Gre Gor, Klub adrenalinskih športov Šmartinsko jezero, Alpsko društvo Stratus and Športno društvo Balvanija, so currently 287 clubs with more than 54 thousand members of various age groups operate under the umbrella of PZS.

At the regular annual PZS Assembly in Črna na Koroškem, 155 delegates gathered, the quorum was 54 percent. In addition to the report of PZS bodies for 2015, the framework content and financial work programme of PZS for 2017 and the rules on financial and material operations of PZS, delegates from mountaineering clubs unanimously approved the amended and supplemented Statute of PZS, which eliminates ambiguities and inconsistencies, improves provisions that did not work best in practice and brings some new features, and adopted the PZS Programme Guidelines, the basic document of the mountaineering organisation that determines or indicates directions of operation and development in the medium term. "It is extremely encouraging that more than half of the representatives of all Slovenian mountaineering clubs attended today's assembly despite the sunny weather and that practically all resolutions were adopted unanimously, which gives additional value to the adopted documents and is an excellent basis for the further work of the mountaineering organisation. Among the documents, the adoption of the PZS Programme Guidelines certainly stands out, with which we have aligned within the organisation on the most important directions for the next medium-term period," was satisfied PZS President Bojan Rotovnik and added: "I thank the co-organisers, PD Črna na Koroškem, for the extremely hospitable reception and the representatives of mountaineering clubs for their constructive contribution."

For an experiential and mountaineering-coloured cultural introduction to the assembly, the host of the assembly, Planinsko društvo Črna na Koroškem, provided in collaboration with Mešani pevski zbor Markovič Kristl - Mato Črna na Koroškem, which with song led into the mountains, and the youth theatre group of Delavsko prosvetno društvo Svoboda Črna na Koroškem with the recital Od višine se zvrti, a magnificent interweaving of recitation, play, song and image. Mayor of the Municipality of Črna na Koroškem Romana Lesjak wished welcome to mountaineers from all Slovenia in the place with rich natural, cultural and sports heritage, also addressed them the president of the local mountaineering club Marijan Lačen and invited them to the Koroška mountains.

Before the assembly, the workshop Društvene aktivnosti pod drobnogledom tržne inšpekcije aroused great interest among club workers, at the end Vice-President of PZS Tone Jesenko invited the gathered to this year's Dan slovenskih planinskih doživetij, which with a diverse programme for mountaineers of all generations and touring cyclists on 18 June 2016 invites to Mozirska koča on Golte. Mountaineers also viewed with interest the picturesque exhibitions of PD Črna na Koroškem and MDO PD Primorske as well as the Črna mining, ethnographic and Olympic museum collection.
