PZS has additional vice-presidents

14.01.2013
On Saturday, January 12, 2013, the working Assembly of the Alpine Association of Slovenia took place in Tržič, which the Alpine

Association of Slovenia organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Tržič and the Tržič Mountaineering Association, which in 2013 celebrates its

105 years of successful operation. Before the assembly itself, a workshop on Criteria for classifying associations into

priority classes was held, and in the main part, one of the main agenda items was the election of additional PZS vice-presidents. These

were Miro Eržen (PD Dovje – Mojstrana) and Tone Jesenko (PD Brežice). The assembly was attended by 124 out of 277

mountaineering associations with voting rights, so the attendance was 44.8%.

At the workshop on criteria for classifying associations into priority groups, led by PZS President Bojan

Rotovnik, representatives of mountaineering associations gave their opinions and many constructive comments on

the draft criteria, which were developed based on the adopted guidelines at the extraordinary assembly on December 4, 2010 in Celje and are one of

the implementation tasks of the new PZS Statute. In Celje, representatives of PZS member associations mostly supported the relaxation

of conditions for association membership in PZS while simultaneously classifying all member associations according to the content of their work.

The main purpose of introducing the criteria is to encourage member associations to have a content-rich work program; the basic

premise of the criteria is that no association, member of PZS, should be in a worse position than it is now, but some

associations that have more diverse social activities and more activities would be additionally rewarded. The workshop was

part of the public discussion on the draft criteria, which lasts until January 31, 2013.

Due to the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the mountaineering organization, we will hold two assemblies this year. The first assembly was

yesterday in Tržič (working assembly), the second will be on April 12 in Celje. The working assembly was intended

for a more detailed presentation of the work program and activities in the anniversary year, adoption of the permanent rules of procedure

of the assembly, consideration of the most important implementation tasks from the new PZS Statute, and election of two additional

PZS vice-presidents. Sample rules for mountaineering associations were also presented in more detail, prepared on the basis of the new Associations Act and the new PZS Statute, as well as instructions on the use of PZS symbols.

Given the large scope of content, also important for the operation of mountaineering associations, a large number of PD representatives attended the workshop and assembly.

On Friday, April 12, 2013, the solemn PZS Assembly will be held in Celje, where from the regular items we will discuss the report for

2012, the framework work program for 2014, and the Code of Honor of Slovenian Mountaineers, which was adopted exactly

40 years ago. The central program of the assembly will be dedicated to the celebration, to which we will invite

representatives of domestic and foreign organizations of which PZS is a member, and foreign mountaineering associations with which we cooperate more closely.

For the additional vice-presidents with a mandate until the 2014 PZS Assembly, Miro Eržen,

president of PD Dovje – Mojstrana, head of the Slovenian Mountaineering Museum and also a member of the PZS Legal Commission, and

Tone Jesenko, president of PD Brežice and long-time guide with rich experience in diverse mountaineering activities, were elected in secret ballot.

The mountaineering associations confirmed both with a large majority, with as much as 96.7% support from all cast ballots. Upon taking office

as vice-presidents, both will gradually conclude their presidencies in their home associations.

Miro Eržen, head of the Slovenian Mountaineering Museum (SPM), also presented the operation of SPM from its opening (August 7,

2010) to the present, and Milena Brešan, head of the PZS Membership Committee, summarized the course and conclusions of the workshop on

the draft criteria before the start of the assembly.

At the PZS assembly, PZS President Bojan Rotovnik awarded a commemorative plaque for 60 years to Anton Kraševc, PD

Metlika; to the new member of the Alpine Association of Slovenia PD Piramida Maribor Ptuj, a certificate of membership in PZS. All

those gathered in Tržič were also greeted by the Mayor of the Municipality of Tržič, mag. Borut Sajovic, and the president of the local PD Tržič

Erna Anderle, and in the cultural program, the Male Choir Gorščaki and the girls' vocal group participated.

The Tržič mayor aptly highlighted the importance of mountaineering: "In these sensitive times in our country, the message of the mountaineering

organization from the past is the one that encourages us and motivates us to live and act in accordance with the values

of mountaineering, which always leads the right way."
