PZS Maps on Your Smartphone
5.09.2017
You can now download the maps of the Alpine Association of Slovenia (PZS) to your smartphone as well. Together with numerous other maps of most countries in the world, they are available through the convenient Locus Map application for on-site navigation.
The maps of the Alpine Association of Slovenia are the most useful aid for mountain visitors. They detail hiking trails, huts, paths, natural and cultural landmarks, tourist infrastructure, and everything else needed for moving in nature. Field data is constantly updated by volunteers from Slovenian mountaineering clubs. In the Locus Map app, at 1:25,000 scale, the following maps are available: Bohinj, Triglav, Stol, Jalovec and Mangart, Grintovci and Krnsko pogorje; at 1:50,000 scale: Triglav National Park, Karavanke - central part, and Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
In the Locus Map app, Slovenian mountaineering maps are found in Locus Store under the tab Europe > Slovenia > PZS Slovenia. Installation is standard, as with other offline download methods. The map you purchased can be downloaded for free from Locus Store for one year. It is then recommended to create a backup of the map from your mobile phone or tablet on your computer or Dropbox. The purchased map can be used on any device with the Locus app via your Locus Store account. The map can be purchased with Locus tokens; the price for a single smartphone map, which covers half of the printed map, is 175 tokens, approximately 2 euros.
Happy and safe stepping!
