Mammut has issued a precautionary recall of Skywalker Pro Via Ferrata and Skywalker Pro Turn Via Ferrata climbing kits due to a possible failure in the locking mechanism of the karabiners, which could endanger user safety.
Mammut, as part of routine quality control, discovered a potential defect in the locking mechanism of the karabiners in via ferrata climbing kits. The issue occurs primarily at low temperatures, when the plastic locking levers can bend or stiffen, preventing proper closure of the karabiner.
The recall affects the following models equipped with Skywalker Pro karabiners:

How to check your equipment?
Look for the serial number on the karabiner or energy absorber label.
If the number is 07/2021 or 11/2022 (without the letter “R”), return the product immediately — no check needed.
For all other batches:
Place the kit in the refrigerator (0–10 °C) for at least 1 hour.
Then open and close the karabiner several times.
If it gets stuck in the open position or moves with difficulty, it is defective.
