The Chinese will once again try to push the boundaries of the possible. This time they will build a road to the highest mountain in the world. The road will be constructed for the Olympic Games, as the Olympic flame is supposed to be carried along it. Later, the road will serve tourists and mountaineers. However, the road to Mount Everest will not reach the summit but only the base camp at an altitude of 5200 m. The construction of the more than 100 km long road will cost approximately 20 million dollars.
