Slovenian Fatally Injured on Montaż
27.10.2015
A Slovenian alpinist died on Montaż mountain in the Italian Alps. He most likely slipped on the western wall of the mountain and fell into the depths.
The 38-year-old alpinist from the Ljubljana area was reported missing by his family since Monday evening, when he did not return from the mountain.
Rescuers began searching for him at sunrise, also using a helicopter. Despite low clouds hindering the search, they found the alpinist in a difficult-to-access area, reports Messagero Veneto.
Montaż is a 2753-meter-high peak in the western group of the Julian Alps. The Slovenian name for this mountain is also Špik nad Policami, and the name Poliški Špik is also used.
