Snow avalanche below Špik

A snow avalanche that triggered on Monday from the slopes of Špik carried away a 39-year-old German citizen. The avalanche engulfed the mountaineer at about 2200 m altitude, then carried him 600 vertical meters lower down the steep rocky slope. Mountain rescuers found the missing person today in the Kačji graben area with helicopter assistance.
Due to bad weather, the rescue operation started only on Wednesday, when they found items belonging to the missing person.
