Weak layers in old snow
The main danger is represented by weak layers in old snow, which are located deeper in the snowpack. There are more such weak layers on sun-exposed slopes above the forest. Under heavy load exceeding the load-bearing capacity of these layers, a medium-sized avalanche can also be triggered.
The stability of the snowpack is also lower in concave locations and in gullies, where the snow cover is greater due to snow deposits.

With a colder air mass, the snowpack will freeze overnight. During the day, the snow on sun-facing slopes will settle somewhat, but not as much as in previous days. There is still wind-packed snow from the last snowfall in places, which can be unstable in rare spots. During the day, some avalanche of south-facing snow is possible.
In the old snowpack, the snow layers are mostly well bonded together. More or less deep under the surface, several weak layers of facets and rounded grains appear, which are more frequent on sun-exposed slopes.
Weather
On Friday, it will initially still be partly clear, with increasing cloudiness during the day. In the afternoon, some peaks will be in clouds, isolated snow showers possible. The amount of precipitation will be small. In the mid-mountains, the wind will mostly be light, in the high mountains a strengthened northwester will blow. At midday, the temperature at 1500 m will be around 5, at 2500 m around -2 °C.
Outlook
At the end of the week, it will be warmer and sunnier again. In the midday and afternoon, individual avalanches of south-facing snow will be possible.
