Snow conditions
In mostly dry weather, the snowpack has slowly transformed and settled, and a crust has formed on the surface in places. There is little snow, only in the high mountains, above about 2000 m, is there a significant snowpack. Some snow remains especially in the shade also at lower elevations. Particularly on sun-exposed and wind-exposed slopes, the snow has iced over.
Forecast weather development
In the mountains today it will be mostly cloudy, some peaks will be in clouds. Warmer air is arriving at altitude, so the upper air layer will have positive temperatures. The wind will be light, from east to southeast. Tomorrow and Thursday will be mostly cloudy and occasionally foggy weather. Occasional light precipitation is possible, but it will not change the snow conditions. On the night to Thursday it will cool down again, a moderate wind from northern directions will blow. By the end of the week it will be mostly clear and significantly warmer again.
Trend in snow conditions
The snowpack will not change much in the coming days. Only in layers of the atmosphere with positive temperatures it may occasionally become somewhat wet and freeze again upon cooling. By the end of the week, on sun-exposed slopes it will become wet during the day and freeze at night, the crust will strengthen. In shady locations in the high mountains, the snow will remain mostly dry. Avalanche danger will be low, but there is a risk of slipping in places.
