Avalanche danger is currently still LOW (1), but is INCREASING RAPIDLY due to precipitation.



Snow conditions

Snowing on mostly hard base. Locally quite some graupel has fallen. Snow line is lowering.



Forecast weather development

Today cloudy with precipitation, which will weaken from the north in the afternoon. Snow line will descend and with stronger precipitation it will snow to lowlands in many places. Strong north wind will blow. Cooling. Tomorrow mostly cloudy, clearing slowly during the day in the area of western and central Julian Alps. Moderate northeast wind will blow. Temperature in mountains below zero. Wednesday initially mostly clear, some clouds will form during the day. Northeast wind will still blow. Temperature below zero.



Tendency of snow conditions

Due to new snow, avalanche danger will INCREASE RAPIDLY. Snowing on hard base, which will represent a weak layer under new snow, on which new snow can slide. Locally also quite some graupel, which will also become a weak layer under new snow. North wind will transport new snow into windslabs, new slabs will form.
