ASSESSMENT OF RISK
Avalanche danger is 1st degree.
The snowpack is stable.
The risk is low. No spontaneous avalanching.
SNOW CONDITIONS and CURRENT STATE OF THE SNOWPACK
There is very little snow in the mountains. The snowpack is mostly covered with a crust that formed from daytime melting and nighttime freezing, or it is hard. Temperature inversion prevails with temperatures above zero. At night it cools below freezing mainly on plateaus and in frost hollows.
Compacted snowpack is only occasionally present in shady slopes of the high mountains and on some plateaus.
FORECAST WEATHER DEVELOPMENT
Today it will be cloudy and foggy in the western and southern Julian Alps and in the hills of Notranjska, elsewhere mostly clear. Freezing level is above the highest peaks, southwesterly to westerly wind will blow.
Similar weather will also be tomorrow and on Thursday, only slightly cooler in the mountains. On Thursday the freezing level will drop a little below 2500 m. Southwesterly wind will prevail.
TENDENCY OF SNOW CONDITIONS
Snow is mostly already well transformed. Especially in the morning there is a slightly higher possibility of slipping due to partially icy surface.
