ASSESSMENT OF RISK
Avalanche danger is level 1.
The snowpack is mostly stable.
Risk is low. No spontaneous avalanching is expected. An avalanche can exceptionally be triggered only locally on steep slopes in high mountains and with significant additional load.
SNOW CONDITIONS and CURRENT STATE OF THE SNOWPACK
The snowpack is dry. Temperatures have been relatively low in the past, snow has settled and transformed only slowly.
In the Julian Alps at 2500 m above sea level up to about 50 cm of snow, elsewhere in our mountains 10 to 30 cm, locally possibly a bit more.
FORECAST WEATHER DEVELOPMENT
Tomorrow initially mostly clear, only in mid-mountains cloudy and foggy. During the day cloudiness will gradually increase.
Temperature at 1500 m around -2, at 2500 m around -6 degrees C. Mostly light winds from the east.
On Thursday mostly cloudy. Locally occasional light snow possible. Northeasterly wind.
On Friday dry. Northeasterly wind continues.
Temperatures in the mountains will probably rise slightly only by the end of the week, when there is also a higher probability for more sunny weather.
TREND OF SNOW CONDITIONS
Snow will transform only slowly.
