Snow conditions
At the end of the week, it snowed in the mountains. The snow line was down to about 1100 m above sea level. Snow has mostly remained in the high mountains, above about 1800 m, in the Julian Alps possibly lower, lower down there are only snow patches or perhaps wind slabs. The snow is soft. In the high mountains of the Julian Alps, there is up to about 40 cm.
Forecast weather development
On Monday it will be cloudy and foggy, with occasional precipitation, above about 2000 m snow, but not much new snow. The wind will decrease. On Tuesday and Wednesday partly clear with occasional variable cloudiness, some peaks may be occasionally in clouds. It will warm up, snow line on Tuesday at about 2200 m, on Wednesday at about 2600 m. On Thursday there will be occasional rain especially in the western and southern Julian Alps, above about 2500 m snow. At the end of the week occasional precipitation, expected to snow in the high mountains, but the snow line will fluctuate between 2200 and 2500 m.
Tendency of snow conditions
The snow will settle and melt lower down. At the end of the week, new snow will start accumulating in the high mountains again.
