Danger level is 1 on the European 5-level scale - LOW.
Main problem:
Danger pattern: Cooling after warm weather / warming after cold
Risk assessment
Avalanche danger is LOW, level 1. The snowpack is stable. It is unlikely that a slab could release due to loading.
Snow conditions
Dry weather continues. Snow is mostly crusted over, in many places also hard and icy. Only in sheltered, north-facing terrain in the high Julian Alps can it still be soft in places.
Forecast weather development
Dry weather will also prevail in the coming days with the possibility of occasional light snowfall, but the quantity will be negligible. Today a strong north wind will blow, tomorrow it will weaken slightly, on Saturday it will be somewhat stronger again. It will be cold, but on Saturday warmer air will flow in.
Trend in snow conditions
The snowpack condition will not change much. The snowpack will remain stable, frozen, and hard and icy in many places, hence risk of slips. Avalanche danger will be LOW, level 1.
