Southern Julian Alps, Central Julian Alps, Eastern Julian Alps, Western Julian Alps, Kamnik Alps, Savinja Alps and Koroška, Western Karawanks, Central Karawanks

Avalanche danger is gradually decreasing
Due to slight cooling and cloudy weather, the danger of releasing wet snow slab avalanches has decreased.

There are still some spots in the high mountains with windpacked snow, where under greater load a slab avalanche can be triggered. Weak layers in the snowpack also pose a problem. If the load exceeds the carrying capacity of deeper weak layers, a deep and large avalanche can be triggered. There are many such weak layers, especially on slopes above the forest.

Snowpack
Danger patterns
dp.1: deep hard weak layer
dp.10: spring conditions
The snowpack freezes at night, during the day it softens on sun-exposed slopes. This process will be temporarily less pronounced today. In the high mountains, the snowpack will remain frozen even during the day.

The old snowpack consists of layers of somewhat cohesive snow, which are mostly well bonded together. Deep below the surface in the old snowpack, several weak layers of facets and rounded grains appear.

Weather
In the eastern part of our mountains it will be partly clear, elsewhere initially mostly cloudy, summits in clouds. In the afternoon, cumulus cloudiness and isolated showers will form. The snow level will be at about 1500 m above sea level. Mostly weak southwesterly wind will blow. At midday, temperature at 1500 m around 3 °C, at 2500 m around -5 °C.

Outlook
The danger of triggering snow avalanches will remain similar.
