Large amount of new snow, snow wind slabs and weak layer in the old snowpack.
In the mountains, above about 1500 m a significant amount of new snow has fallen in the last two days. Lower down, it has partly snowed (wetter snow) partly rained. More dangerous are spots where south winds have formed larger snow wind slabs. In shady locations, a weak layer is present deep in the snowpack.
Spontaneous avalanche release is still possible, even larger ones. We advise against visiting the high mountains in the current conditions!
Snowpack
Danger patterns
dp.1: deep persistent slab
dp.4: cooling after warmth / warming after cold
On the weak snowpack, a large amount of snow has accumulated from previous snowfalls, the newly fallen snow is poorly bonded to the old base. In the last two-day snow episode, 60-90 cm of new snow fell in the high mountains. South winds have built new large slabs on the lee sides of ridges. Deep and persistent weak layers are present in the old snowpack. The snowpack is unstable.
Weather
Cloudy, possible some snow showers. Mostly light easterly winds. Temperature at 1500 m around 0 °C, at 2500 m around -5 °C.
Outlook
Conditions will remain demanding in the coming days, danger will gradually decrease.

On the weak snowpack, a large amount of snow has accumulated from previous snowfalls, the newly fallen snow is poorly bonded to the old base. In the last two-day snow episode, up to 50 cm of new snow fell in the high mountains. South winds have built new large slabs on the lee sides of ridges. Deep and persistent weak layers are present in the old snowpack. The snowpack is unstable in many places.
