Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 11.2.2022

Avalanche Bulletin 35, Friday 11.2.2022 at 6:00 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

General avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area is level 1 on the five-level European scale. Below 1000 meters there is no avalanche danger.

New, mostly wind-packed snow is slowly bonding with the old snowpack. On shady slopes, especially in narrow gullies, there are still smaller areas with unprocessed wind-packed snow. On sunny slopes in the high mountains, the snow has softened and bonded with the old snowpack in the past days. Wind has been transporting snow in very small amounts, mainly on shady slopes. The old snowpack is stable.

Today in the mountains above Tržič it will be partly clear with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon. Temperature at 1500 meters around 0°C, weak SW wind blowing. At 2000 meters around -3°C, during the day S wind up to 30 km/h. Tomorrow a bit more sun and colder. On Sunday clear with similar temperatures

New, wind-packed snow will soften a bit more during the day, especially on sunny aspects. In the afternoon, air temperature will drop and the snow surface will freeze. On sunny slopes, in areas with wind-packed snow, a crust may form.
Wind blowing in the coming days will not transport snow. In narrow gullies on shady high mountain slopes, smaller areas with wind-packed snow will remain. On ridges, snow will soften a bit more today during the day, but freeze in the afternoon. Tomorrow and Sunday, ridges will remain frozen even during the day, so high risk of SLIDES. Careful!
