Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 13.4.2022

Avalanche Bulletin 60, Wednesday 13.4.2022 at 7:30 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

The general avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1, above 1700 meters it will be level 2 during the day on the five-level European scale.

In the past days, the snow has settled and melted rapidly. More pronounced melting is on all sun-exposed slopes and at lower elevations. In the high mountains, above 1600 meters, the snow has surface frozen overnight. Wet cohesive snow avalanches have released from sun-exposed slopes. Also some smaller avalanches have been observed on shaded, northern slopes. The snowpack is moist throughout its depth.

Today in the Tržič hills it will be partly cloudy. Air temperatures at 1500 meters will be around 10°C. Tomorrow it will be clear with slightly higher daytime temperatures. On Friday and Saturday we can expect some precipitation in the form of rain.

The snowpack will continue to melt rapidly in the coming days. Even in the high mountains, temperatures will be quite high. The zero-degree isotherm height will be around 3000 meters. At night, the avalanche danger will slightly decrease, during the day it will increase. From sufficiently steep slopes we can expect slab avalanches and wet loose snow avalanches. Sun-illuminated slopes will be more dangerous even below 1700 meters.
On Friday and Saturday we can expect some precipitation in the form of rain. The snow will be additionally loaded and become even more unstable.
Below 1100 meters there is almost no snow left, so there is no avalanche danger there.
