General avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area above 1500 meters is 3rd level on the five-level European scale. Below 1500 meters it is 2nd level, below 1200 meters 1st level.
Yesterday during the day, the snow cover on sun-exposed slopes južila due to solar radiation. On these parts, it also settled, transformed, and avalanched spontaneously. Overnight to Friday, a thin crust formed. Under the crust, the snow is still moist.
Even on shaded slopes up to about 1700 meters, it became somewhat more moist. In the high mountains, there are still areas with wind-packed snow. Soft slabs formed under ridges and in gullies. On these parts, the snow is unstable. Snow transformation and settling is somewhat slower here.
In the last two days, several small spontaneous snow avalanches released on all aspects.
Today in the Tržič mountains it will be sunny and warm. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around 4°C at midday, moderate SW wind blowing. At 2000 meters around 1°C, wind SW to W direction up to 50 km/h. Zero isotherm height will be around 3000 meters during the day. In the evening it will cloud over. Snowfall line will descend. Wind will calm somewhat. Tomorrow cloudy with precipitation.
Today high air temperatures will strongly affect the snow cover. Greater impact on sun-exposed slopes. Snow cover will melt and load here. Expect spontaneous avalanches from sun-exposed slopes, especially on grassy areas and slopes >35°. On these parts, settling and transformation will be faster.
On shaded slopes, snow will moisten somewhat. Snow cover will transform somewhat slower on these parts than on sun-exposed slopes. In high mountains, areas with wind-packed snow remain. Here snow will mostly stay dry. On these parts, slab snow avalanche can be triggered already with small additional load. Spontaneous release of small avalanches from sufficiently steep slopes is not excluded!
In the coming days, conditions in the high mountains will be demanding. To visit these areas you must have additional experience. All southern slopes in the Municipality of Tržič are exposed, as there is high probability of spontaneous avalanching, so avoid walking and staying under these areas.!
