The general avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1 on the five-level European scale. From 12:00 every day onwards, the avalanche danger on sunny slopes will be slightly higher.
On sunny slopes, the snow has become heavily wet during the day. From sufficiently steep areas with grassy bases, numerous wet snow avalanches and ground avalanches have spontaneously released. During the night, the snow has partially stabilized and surface-frozen. Ridges have become icy during the night. On shady slopes, the snow has slowly transformed, especially yesterday when air humidity was slightly higher. The snowpack has warmed through its depth and the layers have bonded even better together. In the high mountains, in narrow gullies on shady slopes, there is still powdery snow.
Tomorrow, Monday, it will be partly clear with increasing cloudiness. Air temperature at 1500 m midday will be around +5°C, at 2000 m around +3°C, NW to S wind up to 30 km/h. On Tuesday, clear and warm. Zero isotherm height above 2800 m. Air temperature at 1500 m around +9°C, at 2000 m around +5°C. Wind in the high mountains will calm somewhat. On Wednesday, somewhat more cloudiness with slightly lower temperatures than Tuesday, but still warm. Air humidity will rise.
In the coming days, snow on sunny slopes in the mid-mountains and high mountains will transform well. At lower elevations in the mid-mountains, the snowpack will also wet and melt due to solar radiation and fairly high temperatures for this time.
On sunny slopes, wet snow avalanches and ground or slide avalanches will still release spontaneously, but only during the day. At night, the snowpack will stabilize and freeze due to lower temperatures. Do not linger under these slopes.
In shady areas of the high mountains, in narrow gullies and couloirs, the snow will remain mostly dry. Wide slopes are hard, icy in places. There are still areas with unstable snowpack in the high mountains, but they are small and few!
Due to solar radiation on sunny slopes, the possibility of cornice collapse remains, especially on Tuesday. Be careful!
