Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 21.3.2022

Avalanche Bulletin 50, Monday 21.3.2022 at 5:30 a.m. for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

The general risk of snow avalanches in the Municipality of Tržič area is 1st degree on the five-level European scale. 2nd degree risk of snow avalanches will be on sun-exposed slopes during the day.

In the last two days, the snowpack on shady high-mountain slopes has been frozen. On sun-exposed slopes, the snow has softened or become wet due to solar radiation on the slopes. Overnight, snow froze on all slopes. A few small snow avalanches were triggered on sun-exposed slopes yesterday in the afternoon.

Due to high air pressure, the weather next week will be nice and without precipitation. It will also be very warm. From today until Wednesday, it will be cold at night in the Tržič high mountains, but very warm during the day. From Wednesday onwards, air temperatures will be positive even at night. Weak wind will blow.

The snowpack will melt quickly in the coming days on sun-exposed slopes or on sunlit locations. From today until Wednesday, snow will freeze at night. The risk of snow avalanches will increase due to solar radiation on sun-exposed slopes during the day. From Wednesday onwards, the risk of snow avalanches will also be on shady sides, as temperatures will be quite high. Due to snow melting and heating of rocky slopes, there is also a risk of rockfall.
On lower elevations of the mid-mountains, there is little snow.
