The general avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area is above 1700 m CONSIDERABLE, level 3 on the five-level European scale. Below 1700 m it will be MODERATE, level 2.
In the high mountains, some new snow has fallen (up to 10 cm above 1800 m), the snow has bonded relatively well to the wet old snow surface. The zero isotherm is rising rapidly today, Thursday, and will be above 1900 m by evening. In the last two days, mostly small to medium-sized wet snow avalanches have occurred. Some larger avalanches have reached low elevations.
In the high mountains, above 1900 m, there are areas with wind-packed snow, which will become moist by tomorrow, Friday evening. The snowpack will be heavy. Below 1250 m there is little or almost no snow left.
Overnight to Friday, the weather will warm slightly. The zero isotherm height will be above 1900 m tomorrow, Friday morning. Cloudy. In the afternoon, some rain may fall. Amounts will be small. Air temperature at 1500 m will be around +5°C, at 2000 m around +1°C. Weak southerly wind. Saturday morning partly clear. In the afternoon, cloudiness will increase. Air temperature at 1500 m around +7°C, at 2000 m around +3°C. Southerly wind. Sunday cloudy and a bit warmer.
The snowpack will also be moist in the coming days. The zero isotherm is rising. Higher temperatures and air humidity will strongly affect the snowpack. The snow will continue to settle and melt. On Saturday there will be some sun, which will additionally warm the snowpack and melt it. Water will percolate through the snow and density will increase. Wet snow avalanches will release spontaneously from all sufficiently steep slopes. On southern, grassy slopes, glide avalanches. Avalanches will also release on shady slopes.
In the coming days, do not linger below slopes with frequent avalanches or cross them.

In the coming days, we advise against visiting the high mountains. The avalanche danger level in the Municipality of Tržič will not decrease yet.
