Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 2.2.2022

General avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area is 1st degree on the five-level European scale. Below 1000 meters there is no avalanche danger.

The snowpack is generally stable. Overnight, 1 cm of snow fell at 1500 meters. The NW wind transported the new snow and formed small wind slabs. On these parts, it has not bonded to the hard or icy base. Some snow is deposited under cornices, but quantities are small.

Today and tomorrow it will be cloudy in the high mountains above Tržič. Today at 1500 meters around -3°C, NW wind blowing. In the morning the wind will be light, in the afternoon it will strengthen. During the morning, some more snow may fall, quantities small. At 2000 meters during the day around -5°C, strengthened S to NW wind, stronger in the afternoon.
Also tomorrow cloudy. Air temperatures slightly higher. Wind will calm down.

The snow that fell overnight will not significantly change the avalanche situation. Locally, small wind slabs have formed. A bit more snow under cornices and under SW ridges. On these parts, the new snow has not bonded to the old snow surface and with additional load you can trigger a small wind slab avalanche.
Ridges are wind-scoured to hard and icy base. Be careful not to slip. Avalanche danger will also be 1st degree tomorrow on the five-level European scale.
