Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 25.3.2022

Avalanche Bulletin 51, Friday 25.3.2022 at 5:30 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

The general avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1 on the five-level European scale. During the day, it will be level 2 avalanche danger.

The snow cover has been melting rapidly in recent days due to solar radiation. Already early in the morning, it softens or becomes watery. Even in the high mountains, it softens and becomes watery on sun-exposed sides during the day. There are almost no areas with dry snow anymore. Smaller spontaneous wet snow avalanches have been releasing from sufficiently steep slopes. Air temperatures affect the snow cover throughout its entire height, so the snow is very moist and heavy.

From today until Monday, it will mostly be clear and sunny weather. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around 9°C during the day, with light southerly wind. At 2000 meters, it will be around +3°C, with light southerly wind.

The snow cover will become watery during the day in the coming days, and at night in the high mountains, it will surface freeze. A crust will form. Avalanche danger will be level 2 during the day on sun-exposed locations and sufficiently steep southerly slopes where the snow cover is still consolidated, and at night, when temperatures drop slightly, level 1. At lower elevations in the mid-mountains, there is little or almost no snow left. Some northerly slopes are bare even in the high mountains. Avoid walking under northerly slopes where there is still snow above you, as wet snow avalanches can release spontaneously. Spontaneous release is not excluded from sufficiently steep slopes on the southerly side either.
