Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 28.3.2022

The general avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1 on the five-level European scale. During the day, it will be level 2 avalanche danger.

Snow has softened and melted quickly during the day in recent days. At night, due to lower temperatures in the high mountains, it has also frozen. Sun-exposed slopes in the mid-mountains are bare, in the high mountains there is still some snow in gullies on sunny sides. There is more snow on shady slopes, but it is also melting slowly there. Due to high temperatures and sun, individual small wet snow avalanches have occurred.

Today it will be clear and warm in the mountains above Tržič. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around 10°C, weak SW wind blowing. At 2000 meters around 5°C, SW wind up to 20 km/h. Tomorrow it will become partly cloudy in the morning, snow line will still be high during the day. On Wednesday, the snow line will drop slightly. Precipitation expected in the evening.

Like in previous days, the snow cover will soften and melt during the day today, and freeze superficially at night in the high mountains. Avalanche danger will increase during the day, and decrease again in the evening. We can expect small avalanches of wet loose snow from sun-exposed slopes, especially where the snow cover is still consolidated. On some sunny slopes of the high mountains, snow is still held in narrow gullies. On shady slopes, snow will also be softened or soupy during the day. Tomorrow avalanche danger will decrease as it will become cloudy and air temperatures lower.
