Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 31.1.2022

Avalanche Bulletin 30, Monday 31.1.2022 at 5:00 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

General avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1 on the five-level European scale. Below 1000 meters there is no avalanche danger.

The snowpack is mostly settled and well stabilized. Wind that blew over the weekend in the high mountains transported snow in small quantities. Yesterday it warmed up slightly. Solar radiation affected the snowpack on sun-exposed slopes in the mid-mountains. Surface snow softened slightly, freezing overnight. On shaded slopes the snow is well settled and stable. There were no major changes in the snowpack.

Today in the Tržič mountains it will be cloudy. In the mid-mountains, moderate SW wind in the morning, turning to north in the afternoon. Air temperature at 1500 meters around -4°C. In the high mountains too, strengthened SW wind in the morning, turning to north in the afternoon. Towards evening the wind will pick up slightly. Air temperature at 2000 m around -6°C. Tomorrow partly cloudy. Strong north wind. Temperatures slightly lower than today. Overnight to Wednesday, some precipitation expected. Quantities will be small.

Today and tomorrow the snowpack will not change much. It will remain stable. Overnight to Wednesday some new snow may fall. Snowfall will be accompanied by wind transporting snow into gullies. New snow will not bond to the old hard or icy surface. A critical layer will form there.
Ridges and certain south slopes are hard and icy. Be careful to avoid slipping. Snow surface on shaded slopes will also remain hard or icy.
