Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 4.2.2022

Avalanche bulletin 32, Friday 4.2.2022 at 6:00 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

The general danger of snow avalanches in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is level 1 on the five-level European scale. Below 1000 meters there is no snow avalanche danger.

The old snowpack is settled and stabilized. The westerly wind that blew over the past two days transported snow in small quantities to eastern slopes, depositing it on hard or icy ground. A critical layer formed here, as it did not bond with the old snowpack. Some deposited snow is also on southern slopes below ridges, but quantities are small. South-facing slopes of the mid-mountains are already partially bare.

Today and tomorrow it will be sunny during the day. Today's temperatures at 1500 meters will be around +1°C, with a weak southerly wind. At 2000 meters it will be around 0°C, with a westerly wind up to 20km/h. Tomorrow air temperatures will be slightly higher. On Sunday there will be more clouds.

Over the next two days the old snowpack will remain stable. Due to slightly higher air temperatures and humidity, south-facing areas will soften superficially during the day, but freeze at night. Wind-blown snow will slowly begin to bond with the old snowpack. On these parts the danger of snow avalanches will slowly decrease. Still be careful in these areas, as with heavy additional load a slab snow avalanche can be triggered. On south-facing ridge areas the snow will melt a little, and at night additional icy areas will form. Be careful on these parts to avoid slides, especially in the morning.
North-facing high-mountain areas will remain stable and hard.
Below 1000 meters in the Municipality of Tržič there is no snow avalanche danger.
