Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 6.4.2022
6.04.2022
Avalanche bulletin 57, Wednesday 6.4.2022 at 5:30 am for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.
General avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area above 1400 meters is 2nd degree on the five-level European scale, lower it is 1st degree. This afternoon, due to higher temperatures and solar radiation, avalanche danger will slightly increase. Tomorrow the trend will be the same!
Snow is slowly settling and melting quickly on sun-exposed slopes. Due to the south wind and slightly higher temperatures, snow on shady sides of the mid-mountains has also become more moist. On sunny sides it has softened considerably and crusted. Some small to medium slab avalanches have released. Moisture is quickly penetrating into the new and also old snowpack. At lower mid-mountain elevations it melted quickly. On shady high-mountain slopes, wind-blown snow remains in gullies. Yesterday on these slopes in the Zelenice area, smaller to medium spontaneous avalanches of dry loose snow released.
Today in the Tržič mountains it will be clear and warm. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around +7°C, weak S wind blowing. In the afternoon the S wind will strengthen slightly. At 2000 meters it will be around 3°C, with S wind up to 20 km/h, which will strengthen in the afternoon. Tomorrow there will be slightly more cloudiness and still warm.
In the high mountains on shady slopes where the sun has not yet reached, dry wind-blown snow still remains. Be careful on these parts, as an additional minor load can trigger a snow avalanche. On sunny high-mountain slopes the snowpack will soften and melt quickly. Individual slab avalanches may release on sufficiently steep grassy slopes. In the afternoon, avalanche danger will be slightly higher here. Moisture will penetrate quickly into the new and also old snowpack, faster on sunny slopes.
In the mid-mountains snow remained somewhat moist even overnight. On sun-exposed slopes it will settle and melt quickly. We expect some slab avalanches to release from steep grassy slopes. Do not linger in areas with frequent avalanches. In lower-lying mid-mountain areas (below 1100 meters) there is little snow or it will largely melt today and tomorrow.
This afternoon, due to higher temperatures and solar radiation, avalanche danger will slightly increase, but decrease at night. Tomorrow the trend will be the same.
