Snow conditions in the area of the Municipality of Tržič 6.5.2023

General avalanche danger in the area of the Municipality of Tržič is above 1900 meters MODERATE, 2nd degree on the five-level European scale. Below 1900 meters it will be LOW, 1st degree.

In the past week, the snow cover melted during the day and locally surface froze at night in the high mountains. Wet snow avalanches released spontaneously on all slopes. Cornices also collapsed. In the mid-mountains and locally in high mountains, sun-exposed areas are already almost bare. There is somewhat more snow on shady slopes in the high mountains and north-facing slopes.

Today it will be variably cloudy. In the afternoon, local showers or thunderstorms are possible. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around 10°C, at 2000 meters around 7°C. Weak winds of variable directions will blow. Tomorrow it will be cloudy with frequent precipitation in the afternoon. Temperatures will be similar to today. Weak SW wind will blow. Monday will also be cloudy with precipitation. Cloudy weather will continue on Tuesday.

Snow will melt rapidly in the coming days as well. Rain precipitation will further burden the snow cover. Small wet snow avalanches are possible on all high mountain slopes, which can reach bare areas of the mid-mountains. Cornices will also collapse in the coming days, so be careful when walking under ridges. Small rockfalls are not excluded.
Avalanche danger will be until Monday above 1900 meters 2nd degree, lower 1st degree. From Tuesday onwards, avalanche danger will decrease also in the high mountains of the Municipality of Tržič.
