General avalanche danger in the Tržič Municipality area above 2000 meters is MODERATE 2nd degree, below 2000 meters 1st degree on the five-level European scale. During the day, the avalanche danger on steep south-facing slopes will increase!
In recent days, wet snow avalanches and ground avalanches have spontaneously released on numerous south-facing slopes during the day. At night, the snow has partially stabilized and also surface frozen. Due to temperature fluctuations, it has also transformed well. On shady slopes, snow and avalanche conditions are almost unchanged. Due to very low air humidity, the snow is still dry, especially in narrow high-altitude couloirs. There are still small slab areas but they are relatively easy to recognize. Wide slopes are wind-packed to hard, in places to rocky base. Lower in the mid-mountains, the snow is mostly stabilized, except on south-facing aspects, where solar radiation affects during the day.
Tomorrow, on Friday, it will be clear in the morning, partially cloudy in the afternoon. Air temperature at 1500 meters at midday will be around +6°C, at 2000 meters around +2°C, W wind up to 30 km/h. On Saturday it will be cloudy. In higher areas air humidity will be low. Air temperatures at 1500 meters around +6°C, at 2000 meters around +5°C. Westerly wind.
On north-facing high mountain slopes, snow and avalanche conditions will remain almost unchanged. Snow in narrow couloirs will remain dry due to very low air humidity. Wide slopes will remain hard. In places in the high mountains there are still small slab areas that are not fully stable. On these parts weak layers are present in the snowpack. Ridges will remain wind-packed to hard base and partially icy. Cornices have also formed on ridges, so do not walk on ridge edges.
On south-facing slopes, on sufficiently steep grassy slopes, wet snow avalanches and ground avalanches will occur during the day, so do not linger below these slopes or cross them. At night, the snowpack will cool somewhat and partially stabilize. Snow transformation is good on these parts due to temperature fluctuations.
