Snow conditions in the area of Tržič Municipality 30.3.2022

Avalanche bulletin 53, Wednesday 30.3.2022 at 5:30 for the Tržič Municipality area.

General avalanche danger in the Tržič Municipality area is level 1 on the five-level European scale. Overnight into Thursday, the avalanche danger will slightly INCREASE.

The snow cover has thinned due to fairly high temperatures and sun during the day on all slopes. Sunny slopes are partially bare even in the high mountains. Snow is still present in gullies and depressions where the wind had previously drifted it. Shady slopes are mostly still covered with snow. More snow is at higher elevations.

Today it will be cloudy with precipitation. Precipitation will start in the afternoon. Below 1500 meters it will rain. The snow line will be around 1500 meters. Today there won't be much precipitation. Air temperature at 2000 meters will be around -2°C, with SW wind up to 40 km/h. Tomorrow the snow line will drop to around 900 meters.

The snow cover has slightly frozen and stabilized overnight in the high mountains. In the mid-mountains, the snow surface remained soft. Avalanche danger will slightly increase this afternoon and overnight into Thursday, especially in the high mountains, due to new precipitation. Unstable areas will primarily be those with new snow where fresh snow fell on the old snow surface.
In the mid-mountains, it will mostly rain. The snow will get even wetter and heavy. Wet snow avalanches are expected from sufficiently steep slopes.
The next local avalanche bulletin will be issued tomorrow, Thursday 31.3.2022.
