Danger is level 2 on the European five-level scale - MODERATE.

Main problem: wind slab

Danger pattern: Cooling after warm weather / warming after cold



Risk assessment

Avalanche danger is currently above sea level around 1500 m MODERATE, level 2, lower down mostly LOW, level 1. But conditions are already changing.



Snow conditions

Above around 1500 m it is snowing, lower down it is raining. Snow is soggy lower down, higher up wet snow is falling up to sea level around 1800 m, higher up it is dry.



Forecast weather development

This evening and overnight there will be precipitation, which will subside from the north in the second part of the night. The snow line will drop to sea level around 500 m. By tomorrow morning it will mostly clear up. Tomorrow during the day and on Sunday it will be fairly sunny. Tomorrow the freezing level will be between 900 and 1200 m above sea level, on Sunday it will gradually rise to around 1700 m above sea level.



Trend in snow conditions

New snow will bond relatively well with the base below around 1800 m, higher up it will be dry and the bond will be poor. Avalanche danger will likely increase above 1800 m to level 3, lower down to 2. Drifting will form in the high mountains already with the pre-frontal southwesterly, then with the northeasterly wind.
