Snow conditions in the Tržič Municipality area 22.12.2021

Avalanche Bulletin 12, Wednesday 22.12.2021 at 5:30 for the area of the Municipality of Tržič.

General avalanche danger in the Municipality of Tržič area above 1800 meters is 2nd degree on the five-level European scale, lower it is 1st degree.

The snow cover is mostly well settled. In some high mountain areas the snow is still loose, locally a hard crust has formed. Certain ridges and slopes are wind-packed to hard, sometimes to bare ground. The snow surface is icy or crusted.

In the Tržič mountains today it will be partly clear. In the mid-mountains fog will persist. Air temperature at 1500 meters will be around -9°C, a weak north wind will blow. At 2000 meters it will be around -9°C, with wind from north to north-west directions up to 20 km/h. Tomorrow there will be slightly more cloudiness.

Layers in the snowpack are mostly well bonded. Dry snow is still present in the high mountains, especially in gullies. Weak layers have formed in these areas. Avalanche release is possible only with large additional loading, mainly on steep slopes and gullies. Ridges and certain areas are icy, so be cautious. From Friday onwards, the avalanche danger will INCREASE.
