Snow whitens the mountains

With the passage of the cold front, it has cooled significantly in the mountains. In the alpine world, the snow line has dropped to around 1600 m, with heavier precipitation even lower in places.
In the high mountains, more than 30 cm of new snow may fall by evening, on top of more than 1 m of old snow in some places. In the coming days, conditions in the mountains will be fully wintery, with temperatures in the high mountains below zero.
Due to the cooling, the risk of slipping has increased, and the new snow will slide from steep slopes during occasionally warmer weather.
