Snow whitens the mountains
30.07.2010
A cold front moving across Slovenia has brought abundant precipitation and cooling. The snow line has dropped below 2200 m, with up to 20 cm of snow falling higher up. On the highest peaks, especially where snow is wind-blown, it will remain for a few days; lower down, it will melt quickly.
Elsewhere in the mountains, the risk of slipping has increased due to saturated terrain. The most dangerous are steep grassy slopes, slippery rocks, and traversing steep slopes on less trodden paths.
