Sport climbing competition in Stožice Hall...
14.05.2020
Sport climbing competition in Stožice Hall in Ljubljana cancelled.
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has, due to the covid-19 pandemic, in collaboration with the organisers either cancelled or postponed all World Cup competitions in sport climbing up to and including September this year.
This has left uncertain the hosting of the World Cup lead climbing competition, which the Alpine Association of Slovenia together with PRVA personal insurance company, the general sponsor of the sport climbing teams, was supposed to host on 25 and 26 September 2020 in Ljubljana's Stožice Hall. The event, which we were preparing in collaboration with radio station Val 202, would have been a true climbing-musical spectacle in our largest hall.
Due to the uncertain situation amid the covid-19 pandemic and uncertainties about the possibility of organising events in the autumn period, we at PZS together with partners have decided to cancel the competition this year and postpone it to next year. We do not yet know the exact date.
In the Alpine Association of Slovenia and of course all the best Slovenian sport climbers we eagerly await the IFSC decision regarding the possible organisation of the remaining World Cup competitions in this season, planned for this autumn or replacements for the cancelled competitions in spring and summer.
We will inform you in due time about IFSC decisions and any new World Cup schedule.
Best mountain greetings,
Matej Planko
