Thaw, rain and avalanches

A pronounced weather disturbance is approaching Slovenia, bringing abundant precipitation and strong wind. The snow line will gradually rise above 2000m altitude, so the snow cover below will destabilize. Ground avalanches of partly already settled snow will release, and cornices will break from ridges.
Due to snowmelt and abundant precipitation, alpine rivers and tributaries will rise strongly, and landslides will also occur.
In the high mountains, more than 1m of snow can fall from this evening until Monday.
