For the seventh year in a row, CIPRA Slovenia, the association for the protection of the Alps, together with partners, publishes the booklet Timetables in the Alps, which offers an overview of timetables of Slovenian railways, buses, local carriers and bike rentals in the area of the Slovenian Alps and part of Austrian Carinthia, and it will be presented in printed form at the 6th Day of the Alpine Convention in Mojstrana. The desire to promote sustainable mobility is growing in Slovenia and the awareness that the use of public passenger transport contributes to a cleaner environment gives us the motivation to become part of the changes.
The booklet Timetables in the Alps, which is prepared by CIPRA Slovenia, the association for the protection of the Alps, together with 21 other partners and is already available in electronic form, will be presented in printed edition tomorrow, May 30, 2015, at the 6th Day of the Alpine Convention in Mojstrana. For the past seven years, we stakeholders have voluntarily united, recognizing sustainable mobility as a solution for transport in the sensitive alpine area. This year we have joined forces: CIPRA Slovenia, Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention, Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia, Alpine Association of Slovenia, Triglav National Park, TIC Ljubljana, TIC Kranj, TIC Radovljica, Tourism Bled, Tourism Bohinj, LTO Kranjska Gora, LTO Bovec, LTO Sotočje, TIC Idrija, Institute for Tourism and Sports of the Municipality of Kamnik, TIC Jesenice, Tourism Škofja Loka, Public Institute SPOTUR Slovenj Gradec, TIC Logarska dolina, TPIC Tržič, Kärnten Bus GmbH and TIC Jezersko.
With the handy booklet, which will be published in Slovenian and English versions with a total print run of 5000 copies, we are increasing the use of public passenger transport, which is suitable for both tourists and locals. It contains an overview of timetables for all lines of bus and rail transport, cable cars and boat in the area of the Slovenian Alps and in part of Austria. A novelty in this year's edition is the bike rental table, with which we want to emphasize the importance of cycling in transport.
The booklet is available at all partner organizations, and also in electronic form on the websites of CIPRA Slovenia, Alpine Association of Slovenia and other partners. It is also accessible via QR code. The printed form will be presented on May 30 at the Day of the Alpine Convention in Mojstrana and available at all partner organizations from the beginning of June 2015 onwards.
