Traffic regime Pokljuka - Uskovnica
To relieve Pokljuka of motor traffic, new and coordinated solutions have been adopted on forest roads on Pokljuka or Uskovnica. Traffic signs and information boards indicate the changed traffic regime.
New traffic regimes, applying to the forest road Srednja vas–Uskovnica and the forest road Spodnji Goreljek–Praprotnica–Rudno polje from June 15 to October 15, prohibit motor traffic except for exceptions.
Driving IS ALLOWED for:
forest management and game management needs;
cycling;
owners, managers or tenants of buildings and land;
official drives for municipal warden service, public forestry, cultural heritage, nature conservation, health, rescue and veterinary services, game warden and fisheries warden services, inspection supervision, defense, protection and rescue tasks, police tasks, mountain and cave rescuers and firefighters, direct supervision in nature and during investigative judges' and state prosecutors' work, agricultural work, beekeeping, surveying, geological work, scientific-research work, exploration and research of underground caves, regulation of watercourses and torrent areas, maintenance and construction of facilities, protection, rescue and assistance in natural and other disasters, and execution of Slovenian Army tasks;
holders of the Citizen parking card and organized transport arranged by the Municipality of Bohinj and Tourism Bohinj.
Driving IS NOT ALLOWED for guests staying in facilities providing accommodation services.

hiking and walking trails (maPZS.si),
organized transport lines in Bohinj (promet.bohinj.si)
Organized transports in the 2025 season:
line 8: Uskovnica via Srednja vas (on-demand minibus), daily from July 1 to August 30, 2025 upon prior reservation,
line 6: Pokljuka via Bohinjska Bistrica (bus) daily from June 25 to September 14, 2025,
the provider can also arrange transport for guests.
Why the special traffic regime on Pokljuka?
Pokljuka is a high karst plateau on the eastern edge of Triglav National Park. It extends at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,500 meters. Pristine nature and vast spruce forests are Pokljuka's trademark.
Pokljuka also features special protected areas and species safeguarded under European directives and part of the Natura 2000 network. The most important among them are bog areas and the habitat of the western capercaillie.
The purpose of the Natura 2000 network is to preserve natural values of international importance that our ancestors managed to maintain through a healthy and respectful attitude towards nature.
These measures will contribute to the comprehensive regulation of the traffic regime on Pokljuka, which is also an important goal of the VrH Julijcev project.
On the plateau, we aim to preserve suitable habitats for sensitive animal and plant species and vulnerable ecosystems.
Adapting motor traffic is also important for undisturbed forest management, while allowing visitors high-quality and nature-friendly leisure time in the country's only national park.
Parking along forest roads between Rudno polje, Za Ribnico
and Razpotje is not permitted (except for landowners).
Parking is permitted at the parking lot at Rudno polje and at Lom pred Uskovnica.
Driving motor vehicles across planina Praprotnica (past
energy points) and Uskovnica (from Lom pred Uskovnica to the intersection of forest roads towards planine Šeh, Praprotnica and Uskovnica above the bridge over Ribnica) is not permitted
(except for landowners).
