Trail to Ledine through Žrelo reopened
10.09.2015
The trail to Ledine through Žrelo has been open again since the end of August.
The very demanding mountain trail through Žrelo, connecting Češka and Kranjska huts and closed due to rockfalls, has been reopened at the end of last month after the action of the technical team of the PZS Commission for Mountain Trails and PD Kranj maintainers. Kranj maintainers also repaired the cable on the exposed section below the summit of Koroška Rinka.
The very demanding mountain trail through Žrelo, connecting Češka hut at Spodnjih Ravnih and Kranjska hut at Ledinah, was closed due to active rockfalls on and beside the trail, so hikers used Slovenska or lovska trail to connect the two huts during that time.
From 26 to 29 August 2015, PD Kranj maintainers and the technical team of the PZS Commission for Mountain Trails joined forces and renovated the trail, making the path through Žrelo safer to traverse after several years. As reported by PD Kranj, the trail is exemplarily maintained, the route is slightly altered and thus somewhat more demanding, but well equipped with safety features.
In recent days, Kranj maintainers also repaired the torn cable below Koroška Rinka, but emphasize that the trail to the panoramic two-thousander remains very demanding and still requires renewal on some sections.
