Do not let the warm weather in the valleys mislead you. Full winter equipment is still required for hiking in the mountains, as there is still more than two metres of snow in the high areas of the Julian Alps. Temperatures in the mountains are also not high, only slightly above zero, and at night in some places a few degrees below. It should also be noted that in the mid-mountain and lower areas, especially on sunny slopes, there are already snakes. In Slovenia, the viper and the adder are venomous, but they will avoid humans unless surprised and stepped on or near.
