WARNING! Major rockfall below the summit of Vrtača

On the Austrian side, a major rockfall occurred below the summit of Vrtača.

Pilots of the Austrian police helicopter unit observed a large rocky landslide on the northern side of Vrtača, which due to its size may also affect the condition of the hiking trail leading to the summit on the Slovenian side of the mountain.



We warn hikers that the edge is unstable and it is not safe to approach it. The maintainer of the difficult trail to Vrtača, Planinsko društvo Tržič, announces that they will immediately inspect the critical section of the hiking trail and take further measures based on it. We will report on them on our websites.



Until the next announcement, we recommend not approaching the rockfall! Also be attentive to possible cracks in the ground and falling rocks.
