Two hikers bitten by snakes near Blejska koča
On the way to Blejska koča on Monday around noon, two foreign hikers were bitten on the hand by a snake. After the bite, the injured continued to Blejska koča, where one hiker's condition worsened.

A helicopter with the on-duty team from Brnik flew to the scene, which treated the 21-year-old hikers and transported them to UKC Ljubljana.

As reported by the Kranj Police Administration, circumstances indicate that the hikers were sitting in the grass near Blejska koča on Lipanci when they were bitten by snakes on the forearm and finger. Judging by the different bites, there were two different snakes in the immediate vicinity.

Police officers will properly document the incident and notify the competent Planinsko društvo to conduct a trail inspection.

Snake bite also on Sunday
A snake bite near Blejska koča also occurred on Sunday, when a snake, most likely a viper, bit a 75-year-old hiker on the finger. He was transported by helicopter to the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. While walking on a steeper section, the hiker wanted to grab a branch, but it was not one, but a snake.
